Cerritos, CA, March 14, 2003
-- Corelis Inc., a world leader in the field of JTAG emulation
and boundary-scan testing, introduced today a powerful new
emulator for the high-performance, low-power AMD Alchemy™
Solutions Au1000™ processor. The new ScanICE-1000 emulator
utilizes the IEEE-STD-1149.1 standard (JTAG) port on the Au1000,
Au1100™ and Au1500™ processor cores to provide access to the
CPU’s on-chip debug facilities. The emulator includes a powerful
Windows® 9x/Me/NT/2000/XP based source-level debugger and uses a
PCI based controller for high-speed emulation access.
Unlike conventional real-time
emulators that rely on bulky and expensive external hardware
pods, the Corelis emulator uses the IEEE-STD-1149.1 (JTAG)
standard test access port to access the internal debug resources
available on the Au1000, Au1100 and Au1500 processors. This
eliminates the need for external pods, thus reducing the cost
and electrical loading of the target system. Since the debug
resources used by the emulator are integrated into the target
processor, the emulator automatically supports any clock speed
at which the target system runs.
Programs and data can be downloaded
to any part of the system RAM through the JTAG port without the
need for a resident loader program or a ROM emulator. The
four-wire JTAG interface allows it to be connected to the
Au1000, Au1100 or Au1500 processor, with support for other AMD
Alchemy Solutions processors planned for the future. Thus,
switching processors from one design to the next does not
obsolete a user’s investment in their emulator hardware.
Derek Phillips, Manager of
Application Engineering for AMD's Personal Connectivity
Solutions Group, said, “Corelis brings a wealth of emulator
engineering and marketing experience to the AMD Alchemy
Solutions family of high-performance, low-power,
high-integration processors. The Corelis line of
high-performance, low-cost development tools will help AMD
support Au1000, Au1100 and Au1500 processor customers that
prefer working in a PC-based development environment.”
“The introduction of the
ScanICE-1000 emulator will enable the AMD Alchemy Au1000, Au1100
and Au1500 processors to be more easily integrated into embedded
designs and will result in products being brought to the market
much faster.” Said Steve Hartman, Product Marketing Manager for
Corelis. “Having a full-featured low-cost PC-based development
tool for the Au1000, Au1100 and Au1500 processors will make it
more affordable to a broader range of hardware and software
developers.”
As an additional benefit, the
Corelis boundary-scan (JTAG) controller included with the
emulators can be used to provide boundary-scan interconnect
testing and in-system programming of Flash and CPLDs. Corelis
also has a full suite of boundary-scan test and programming
software available that can be used for interconnect and
functional testing and device programming.
The ScanICE-1000 emulator is
available now.
Corelis Inc., offers a broad line
of boundary-scan software and hardware products for interconnect
testing, in-system programming of Flash memories & CPLDs, JTAG
emulation and debugging. It includes full range of IEEE Std
1149.1 boundary-scan testers for the ISA, PCI, PCMCIA, LAN, USB,
cPCI/PXI and VXI busses. Corelis also provides various
engineering services and is well known for its outstanding
