Corelis Inc. Unveils Real-Time
Development Tools for
PMC-Sierra 64-bit MIPS-based Microprocessors
Hosted on Agilent Technologies' 16700 Series Logic Analyzers
Real-time state and timing
analysis, including inverse assembly of instruction traces,
provides design engineers with a powerful debugging tool

Cerritos, CA, February 18,
2004 -- Corelis Inc., today announced new additions to its
extensive line of logic analysis probes for Agilent
Technologies’ logic analyzers. These latest tools are
non-intrusive, and provide a powerful environment for the
debugging of hardware and software for real-time applications
based on PMC Sierra’s RM5231A™, RM7035C™ and RM7935™ 64-bit
MIPS-based™ microprocessors using the 128-pin ExposedPad™
package technology.
The PI-RM7035 analysis probe
provides logic analyzer access to all signals for the supported
microprocessors and allows a developer to easily connect a
target board to the Agilent family of logic analyzers for timing
and state analysis. Included configuration software sets up the
format specification menu of the logic analyzer for
compatibility with the microprocessor and loads an inverse
assembler for MIPS-based processors to obtain real-time displays
of the processor data in true MIPS‑IV assembly language
mnemonics.
The PI-RM7035 analysis probe
provides immediate support for PMC-Sierra’s new RM7935™ 64-bit
MIPS-based microprocessor with built-in EJTAG on-chip emulation.
The PI-RM7035 analysis probe contains a properly terminated JTAG
debug header connector that allows for the easy connection of
the Corelis CodeRunner Debugger via a large selection of
boundary-scan controllers (including USB 2.0). The combination
of the non-intrusive run-stop, single-step control of the EJTAG
based CodeRunner Debugger and the real-time trace features
provided by the PI-RM7035 culminate together to provide the
highest level of both processor control and visibility.
"These new tools allow the
developer of an embedded system using the PMC-Sierra RM5231A,
RM7035C or RM7935 line of processors to bring their products to
market much faster" said Jim Rodgers, Corelis marketing engineer
for the MIPS® processor family. "The preprocessor makes the
debugging process much easier and faster by eliminating
difficult correlation issues and lengthy set-up times."
"The increasing number of design
wins for PMC-Sierra’s high-performance MIPS-based
microprocessors makes powerful and affordable design and test
tools critical, especially during the early board bring-up phase
of development" said Rob Reiner, manager of product marketing
for the Microprocessor Products Division at PMC-Sierra. "The
cooperative effort between PMC-Sierra and Corelis provides our
customers with the advanced tools they need to develop PMC-Sierra’s
microprocessors successfully."
The PI-RM7035 is available now and
is priced at $3,950.
