New ScanExpressTPG™ Innovation
from Corelis
Dramatically Reduces Boundary-Scan Test Development Time

Cerritos, CA, February 3, 2004
-- Corelis Inc. unveiled an intelligent automatic
boundary-scan test pattern generation tool that takes the
process of boundary-scan automation to a new level of
performance and ease of use. By utilizing ScanExpressTPG™,
both experienced and novice users can create boundary-scan
test vectors in a fraction of the time it takes to develop
test vectors using legacy test pattern generators.
ScanExpressTPG™ has a built-in intelligent wizard that
automatically displays the most relevant data and recommends
the most likely selections when progressing through the
various stages of preparing and generating test vectors.
The intuitive nature of the
Graphical User Interface (GUI) guides the user through a logical
sequence of steps. The steps start with a clear beginning,
where a boundary-scan target project is defined, and ends with
the actual execution of the newly created test plan. Each step
guides the test developer with specific instructions as to what
actions should be taken and how these actions affect the overall
test process. The end result is a complete boundary-scan test
procedure with the highest possible level of board test
coverage.
Benchmark tests on a complex
printed circuit board (PCB) with 8,180 nets (35,000 pins),
including more than 50 memory clusters and over 30 logic
clusters, showed that boundary-scan test development time could
be reduced to less than a day while achieving very high test
coverage.
"ScanExpressTPG™ is truly a next
generation tool that significantly slashes boundary-scan test
development time by automating and integrating many of the tasks
that the user previously had to perform manually," said Jim
Rodgers, Technical Marketing Engineer at Corelis Inc. "A truly
unique aspect of ScanExpressTPG™ is that the automation process
does not diminish the flexibility, control, and visibility, that
is often required when customizing specific boundary-scan tasks.
Every feature and task available through manual test procedure
creation remains available with the new automated approach".
The ScanExpressTPG™ Intelligent
boundary‑scan test generator program provides an integrated
development environment (IDE) system in which the user can
generate boundary‑scan tests from scratch, invoke the
ScanPlusDFT™ Analyzer to produce test coverage reports, and
invoke ScanPlus Runner to execute created tests, all from a
single Graphical User Interface (GUI). The IDE type GUI was
developed to provide a complete framework for boundary-scan test
procedure development and execution. The GUI was designed to
maximize clarity between the many separate aspects of employing
boundary-scan. A direct connection between creating test files,
report generation, and text execution is provided by the IDE.
Boundary-Scan is an embedded IC
technology for in-system programming and testing of digital
circuit boards and components that have been standardized as
IEEE Std 1149.1. Corelis’ ScanPlus Boundary-Scan tools include
hardware and software products offering exceptional ease-of-use
combined with advanced technical innovation.
Corelis Inc., offers a broad line
of boundary-scan software and hardware products for interconnect
testing, in-system programming of Flash memories, CPLDs, FPGAs,
JTAG emulation and debugging. It includes a full range of IEEE
Std 1149.1 boundary-scan testers for the ISA, PCI, PCMCIA, LAN,
USB 2.0, cPCI/PXI and VXI busses. Corelis also provides various
engineering services and is well known for its outstanding
customer support.
