Corelis Introduces a New
Boundary-Scan Demonstration Board
PowerPC-based single board computer is

-- Corelis Inc., introduced a boundary-scan demonstration board
(ScanPlus Demo Board) that is intended to assist design and test
engineers to acquire the highest level of boundary-scan
expertise in the shortest possible amount of time. Both new and
experienced boundary-scan users will benefit as a result of
working through the supplied tutorials and example test plans
that utilize the latest techniques in boundary-scan testing and
in-system programming.
The ScanPlus Demo Board is a high
performance single board computer system that is based on the
IBM PowerPC 405CR 32-bit RISC embedded processor. The board
incorporates examples of many other digital devices commonly
found in embedded systems such as an FPGA, CPLDs, SDRAM, SSRAM
and Flash. A variety of the latest component package types are
used, including fine pitch BGA packaging, which offers a
tremendous challenge to traditional testing. Additionally, the
ScanPlus Demo Board features 16 switches that may be used to
insert faults which are detected and diagnosed during
boundary-scan testing.
Users new to boundary-scan can run
the example programs provided with the ScanPlus software to
quickly obtain a general understanding of test methodologies.
Complete instructions are given on how to check the scan chain
integrity, verify the interconnections between the devices, test
the memories and program the Flash and CPLDs. Advanced users can
compile their own test vectors using the ScanPlus software and
take advantage of the ScanPlus Demo Board as stable foundation
for building their test generation skills.
