Cerritos, CA – October 6, 2006
– Corelis Inc. today announces the availability of its USB
2.0-ARC/MetaWare JTAG emulators that enable software and
firmware developers to obtain the high throughput and
portability of the Corelis USB-1149.1/E controller while using
the familiar MetaWare® Debugger for ARC™ processors. The
addition of the USB 2.0-based JTAG controller to the ScanICE-ARC/MetaWare
and NetICE-ARC/MetaWare product line offers engineers a
cost-effective, high-throughput and highly portable JTAG
controller for board bring-up and debugging.
Board bring-up is often a difficult
and complex task that leads to longer than expected development
cycles. Integrating the USB-1149.1/E boundary scan controller
from Corelis with the MetaWare Debugger enables engineers to
benefit from the fast code download speeds of the USB 2.0 High
Speed controller while continuing to use the familiar MetaWare
Debugger. The USB-1149.1/E also supports JTAG TCK frequencies
up to 100MHz providing for very efficient software debugging of
the large application programs typical for the ARC 600 and ARC
700 Family cores such as multimedia, communications and consumer
electronics products.
Using the most advanced tools
available is a critical way to gain a competitive edge in new
product time-to-market. The USB-1149.1/E controller also
provides for the FPGA configuration programming, or "blasting",
required on the ARCangel4™ development platforms. A typical
core can be configured in only 2 to 3 seconds which becomes
transparent to the software developer who is trying to debug
code.
"We’re thrilled to have Corelis as
a development system partner," said Karl Auker, director of
strategic alliances at ARC International. "Any tool that helps
software developers writing code on a prototype system improve
their productivity contributes greatly to shortening time to
market. Being able to download a new revision of code to run on
a target system fast and to rapidly examine large sections of
memory on that system is a real productivity boost. The Corelis
USB-1149.1/E controller provides just such a boost."
"Engineers like to keep working
with familiar tools," said Bob Burrill, Emulator Product Manager
for Corelis. "In blending the MetaWare Debugger and our fast
controllers into a common tool, we’re giving the engineer what
they are looking for, saving companies from having to re-train
engineers on proprietary tools, and increasing engineering
productivity as well."
The USB2.0-ARC/MetaWare, ScanICE-ARC/MetaWare
and NetICE-ARC/MetaWare JTAG emulators are now available for
shipment from stock. Prices begin at $4,945. Contact Corelis for
more details.
