Corelis Inc., Unveils A
High-Performance PCMCIA
Boundary-Scan (JTAG) Test Controller Board
New PCMCIA JTAG Controller provides
high-speed boundary-scan testing and
support for field service and portable applications

Cerritos, CA, July 15, 1995
-- Corelis Inc., today unveiled a new high performance
boundaryscan Controller board for the industry standard PCMCIA
PC Card bus capable of supporting two independent JTAG ports
with memory behind the pin. Additional individually programmable
16-bit parallel I/Os are provided to test or control
non-boundary-scan areas of the unit under test. The
PCMCIA-1149.1 allows a lap-top computer to be used for
boundary-scan testing in various phases of a product life cycle
such as design, manufacturing, and field service.
Boundary-scan test vectors
developed with Corelis' SCANTEST™
Automatic Boundary-Scan Test Pattern Generator (ABTPG) and its
accompanying diagnostics software package can be executed
directly on the PCMCIA-1149.1 controller. A software Scan
Function Library (SFL) written in C is supplied with the tester
card to allow the end user to create powerful custom test
programs using high-level programming languages.
With the proliferation of the
boundary-scan test standard in electronics manufacturing, users
are expanding the use of the boundary-scan test logic beyond the
scope of just interconnect testing. These new uses include JTAG
emulation and source-level debugging of microprocessors,
in-circuit programming of CPLDs, functional device testing of
ASIC's using the INTEST scan capability, and functional testing
of non-scanable cluster logic on the unit under test. These
forms of scan based testing usually require large test vector
sets and tend to increase test execution times. The new Corelis
PCMCIA-1149.1 controller is ideally suited for such applications
due to its dual independent TAP controllers, on-board memory,
and high sustained TCK clock speed.
"With this new controller design,
we are able to support scan chain lengths of 4 Giga bits and TCK
speeds of up to 25 MHz, thus greatly reducing test times" said
Menachem Blasberg, president of Corelis Inc. "By having a common
test platform for design, manufacturing, and field service, our
customers will realize tremendous costs savings. This new
controller is an important addition to our existing line of
boundary-scan controllers as we can offer our customers a wide
selection of tester platforms, speeds and prices".
The PCMCIA-1149.1 scan controller
requires a single PCMCIA Type II slot, and comes bundled with a
Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) Client Driver for automatic
card configuration. The PCMCIA-1149.1 also includes self-test
diagnostics routines, Scan Function Library (SFL), and a user
manual. Delivery is from stock.
Corelis Inc., based in Cerritos,
California, offers a broad line of boundary-scan software and
hardware products including Automatic Test Pattern Generation (ATPG),
diagnostics, vector translators and a full range of IEEE-Std
1149.1 boundary-scan testers for the PC ISA bus, VXI and
IEEE-488.2. Corelis also provide test services, consulting, test
vector translation, support and training.
